Only African-American comedy club in Chicago celebrates its success


Chicago, Illinois - Jokes & Notes Comedy Cub located at 4641 South Martin Luther King Drive in Chicago has had tremendous success since opening January 2006. Owner and visionary Mary Lindsey designed Jokes & Notes to become an outlet for comedians who want to showcase their talents and a place where people can come and laugh to local and top name national acts. Located in the heart of the Bronzeville District steps away from the monumental site of the Harold Washington Cultural Center.


Jokes & Notes has had a steady flow of local and national acts that have graced the stage and captivated the ever growing audience each weekend. Comedians such as Mo'Nique, Adele Givens, Michael Colyar & Bill Bellamy just to name a few.


The weekly schedule opens on Wednesday Night with "Wylin Out" Wednesdays Open Mic hosted by a rotation of Legendary Chicago Comedians. (Sign-up 8:30pm) Thursday Night is a revolving door of Hosts putting on the "Funny" as they see it, Kendall Ferguson, Marlon Mitchell, Meechie Hall, Just Flo, and Brian Babylon. Friday and Saturday Night include local and national performers hosted by Baldhead Phillips. Sundays are Special Event Shows produced by Willie Lynch every 1st Sunday, and The Freshman every 2nd Sunday.


Proprietor and Chicago native Mary Lindsey reflects remarks on her decision to bring Jokes & Notes to the Bronzeville District. "I am thrilled to provide the southside community with a premiere entertainment venue". Jokes & Notes is certain to provide their audience with a quality place to unwind, relax and have a good time with laughter and good company. Mary Lindsey formally associated with All Jokes Aside Comedy Club has the knowledge and experience to provide her audience with top entertainers in an upscale venue.

Jokes & Notes is a hip beautifully designed 150 seat club with a state-of-the-art soundstage. The lounge area offers a sophisticated décor equipped with a full bar, banquettes and television monitors. Guests may relax and enjoy a beverage in this area prior to showtime or, during performances, with the visual of on stage performances from 24" monitors.


Jokes & Notes is available for special events, and Corporate events on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
